Every Drop Counts
Our founding philosophy here at BeeBAGZ™ is that every small action matters.
Here are some tips from "the hive" sharing just a few of our favourite ways to embrace this approach in various areas of our lives to lighten our footprint and be well.
Clean Green
It IS possible to get tough on dirt without using harsh chemicals and/or plastic scrubbers. We LOVE Eco Coconut Scourers. These little scrubbies are biodegradable, highly durable and multipurpose. And the bristles are made from sustainably farmed coconut husks!
Shop Green
Most of us know that it's best to shop local whenever possible. BeeBAGZ™ HQ is lucky to be in Huntsville, Ontario which is home to The Muskoka North Good Food Co-op. This community-owned grocery store and food hub offers up produce and all kinds of tasty food from local producers which isn't just tastier, but better for our health and the health of the planet.
Care Green
From simple lip balm to full coverage foundation, make-up and beauty products have come a long way with many indie brands coming up with innovative ways we can pamper ourselves without making a giant footprint! We love what Sampson EcoShopis doing and have a particular fondness for their mint-flavoured, moisturizing and nourishing, ENTIRELY COMPOSTABLE (or recyclable) lip balm that's been certified organic by USDA.
Cook Green
Eating more plant-based foods is better for our health (see the updated Canada Food Guide) and for the health of the planet (see this article from the University of Waterloo). Cooking vegetarian and vegan foods doesn't have to be intimidating or complex. When our founder Kristi was looking for options for her daughter's vegan diet, she discovered the amazing recipes in The Oh She Glows Cookbook, by Angela Liddon. They taste as good as they look!
Time to Celebrate!
September 15 was our one-year anniversary here at the hive!
It all started with a single idea to support plastic-free living and make a difference, one reusable, 100% biodegradable bag at a time! Today, thousands of BeeBAGZ™ are out there making life simpler and greener, all thanks to YOU!! (In photo: Paul, Kristi, Kate and Heather)
